Ah-Ha moment. Trying to think back as to what I did before this all started. I tried to insert the power cord into the adapter the wrong way (upside down). Is it possible that the pins touched and burned something out?

This is what we call in my family a "stupadent" a cross between doing something stupid and an accident.

Yes, reverse polarity can fry the voltage regulator. I can replace the part if you send the board to me.
