I have a pm1236. How do I make/buy work holding clamps for the face plate.

Also, be aware of any in-balance issue when you mount your piece.
In my humble opinion, on smaller lathes, a counter weight can reduce stress on the spindle bearings.

If you browse through some of the publications on lathe operations you’ll find several examples. Here’s one from Southbend “How to Run a Lathe” but there are others. Faceplate setups can really vary so one size rarely fits all — design what you need at the time.

I feel like Im either a bad machinist, or that I need to buy a mill too. There are so many things I want to make, but I always need something special for the lathe and it might be hard on it, or I just need a mill.

I thought the same... that is, until I saw a video of this guy that only has a lathe... he makes everything with it... without the need for a mill...
