I need a decent knurling tool.

Any ideas on what to get.

Thanks,

I would bet that your problem isn't your knurling tool, but is instead the knurling wheels. Remove them from the tool and see if the OD is concentric with the hole - most cheap wheels aren't. If not, measure the width, diameter and hole and go purchase a good set of wheels.

I had to replace my wheels for my knurling tool. I used FORM-ROL brand (USA MADE) from KBC Tools. Expect to pay about $16 each (and you need two). Their wheels ran so true I could hardly tell it was knurling! If you want a diamond pattern, remember that you will need both a RH and a LH wheel.

Which lathe do you have? Is it big enough to use an Eagle Rock knurler? If so, have a look at the model K1-44. It is a very good knurler.

That looks interesting. I followed the link and tried to follow the pages, starting at the bottom is the introduction. That opens a page with very little information. I eventually clicked on the photo above the page title and it opened YouTube with a video. Hope that helps the next guy. I had to be persistent to get to the useful page. Although there are some very good drawings that are downloadable. Probably enough to do the job, but I like instruction. Even if I do it my own way, it's nice to see how others approach a task.
