I did not realize that some electric motors used grease for the bearings. So a little bit of research was done. Two things that I learned. One there are greases made specifically for electric motors. Second, clean out the old grease before applying. Give a call to someone like Grainger or McMaster-Carr , since they sell it and may be able to help you. Hope this helps.
Thank y'all for the replies. I will try the EP1 lithium grease. Next chance I get I will take a video of the motor running. The rest of the lathe is all over the shop. Legs and bed are painted. Once I get everything painted I will post pictures. Thank you, Al
