Kennedy Tool Box Cleanup

Been there, done that. It only says, "discontinued" or some such.... NLA .. i.e. no information.
Did you try calling? Many times this works better than web searching since the right person can think. The web search is probably correct: you can’t get an original replacement because they are No Longer Available.

Looking at the current models, the Signature Series (https://buykennedy.com/products/signature-series/ ) use tubular locks, but the back side of the locksets (the part that engages with the slot our whatever to keep the lid/drawer from opening) is most likely unchanged and they will have something that fits.

Or, search for “lock” on the website, pick the one that looks like what you have, then look at the “compatibility” tab:

From the Kennedy site, Looks like they want you to convert to tubular systems? thanks for looking tho'.

"The flat key locks are no longer available, but replacement keys can be purchased that are T1 -T350 ONLY. “K” and “S” series keys are NOT available. They have been discontinued. See guide below for tubular lock replacements.

T10 is no longer available.

Full tubular lock replacement guide: Click on number to see lock details.

  • Use tubular lock 80401 (hook cam) to replace flat key hook cam lock 80840.
  • Use tubular lock (long cam) 80402 to replace flat key long cam lock 80843.
  • Use tubular lock 80403 (no cam) to replace flat key no cam lock 80844."

I'm finished with these two boxes... I moved them into their 'home' and finished the drawer liners.

Stacking them like this gets the hutch in the upper box up where I don't have to get on the floor to access it...

Now I just need to fill them.

I really like this layout. The "hutch" being on the bottom with any large pieces becomes a burden for my "older self" .LOL Being higher will be more useful I think

As an aside topic, I was in Home Cheapo yesterday and I was walking down the isle of mail boxes. And they have an assortment of locks there that are "universal" and it appears that one of them might work. I'll have to bring the old one with me and see if I can match something up.

If it’s like the lift up door at the bottom of my chest it’s also a pain to open: pull open the top drawer to release the drawer latch then pull the drawer above the door so you can open it. Then the bottom of the compartment is an inch or so below the opening so you lose (and can’t see) stuff in the front of the box.

Exactly! And getting on my hands and knees to see what's back there is the last thing that I want to do!
