Internal Threading HS to TS: Laydown Insert Toolholder question

Thanks Rick. I was hoping to thread the 3/4-16 and the 1-14 with the same bar but that Mesa's too big for the 3/4" internal.

Mark, what grade inserts are you using for threading most steels? I've only found left-handed 16IL AG60 inserts on MSC and few othes but those want to sell in packs of 5. I might go with MSC for just one insert for now. It is IC908 grade which is pretty tough, but I've never used it before. Thanks.

For external threading you can use the LH toolholder upside down n front of the work. That is how to do it for those of us that don't have a rear toolpost.

Carmex I use the BMA grade for everything, you can also purchase single inserts directly from Carmex or Tavers. There is also a wide range of single point carbide threading boring bars from Micro100

Carmex searched for: Item Code Contains 16 AG60 BMA

Wow. When I called Carmex Usa I was told they don't sell directly to end users. I'd rather buy from them as prices aren't bad and I know they'd have what I want. I'll check out the BMA grade. Thank you.
