I think I have Problem!

I don’t see the mark that @sdelivery noted, but on close examination I do see what looks like old cracks:

I think I will make solid tool post mount like the David made for his 13x40 to get the shaft finished.
 
Would not have thought that the compound would have cracked like that leaving the insert untouched unless there was a flaw: it would be worth discussing with PM, even offering to send the pieces to them.
I bet there is a void or flaw in the casting.

Well if Mike and them want to see it up close I'll ship it to them, but I need that tail shaft for the JD so got to get a mount for the tool post, and finish it before snow Flys here in Colorado.

Not a bad plan: at the end of your adventure you’ll have the option of using the solid tool post or compound depending on what you’re doing.
