Hi everyone,
I need to get inside a window ac unit and clean all I can get to with Dawn soap and water in a spray bottle. I do not want to get a shock.
So, how long after the unit is unplugged is it safe to work on the unit with soap and water ?
Thanks to all,

Thanks,
I thought it could be a few days . Then I do not need to wear any special electricians gloves.
Thanks again

If motor caps they can store some juice, not sure how long they would hold it.
You can test by shorting a screwdriver across.
Or, to avoid arc welding use a heavy duty 1K resistor in series.

But I don't have any experience with caps in an ac.

If they are oil filled caps, they can hold a charge for a while and should be discharged by shorting (these are metal cased caps), the electrolytic type in the black plastic cases do not hold a charge for long.

Do 110 volt AC units have only the electrolytic type ?
Thanks

I can't say, but like refrigerators, probably only electrolytic, oil filled are generally used on large AC units.

Shorting with a screwdriver can never hurt. Also if in any doubt, wait a couple of days.
