I think it just a question of a very tight fit and the fact that I couldn't get enough upward force with a punch from the front,because of the threaded section on the front part of the shaft. I couldn't even grab it with a sidecutter and a vice grip slipped of. It took a couple of tugs to get it moving, but yes,success.Success!
It is always interesting to see the various methods suggested and used.
Keys are typically a tight fit as well as sheaves used in driving. Any " slop" will allow unwanted motion that will only increase.
