Over this side of the pond, they are sending cutters, arbors and all sorts of horizontal mill bits and pieces to the scrap yard in skip loads, to be recycled. Some time ago I witnessed a very large shaper being broken up for cast iron scrap, the auctioneer never got a bid on it.
