HobbyMetalKits - Legit?

I have purchased from Hobby Metal Kits. My orders arrived promptly. They are a small operation - I think just a guy and his wife, and they are not young.
 
I was able to get in touch with Hobby Metals and they are sending some replacement pieces. I just needed a little more patience so that's on me for not giving a smaller company time to reply. Now I know.

It sounds like they will pursue a claim with USPS but said it is often not worth the hassle since the postal service is a pain to deal with.
 
I've bought things from HMK and met the owner several times. He is a one man show I believe and a great guy to deal with. He recently moved from Watertown to Jefferson, WI. I haven't been to the new location yet but will continue to buy from him. Great prices on small quantities.
 
I just bought my first machine and made a small order from Hobby Metal Kits. We have "Spee Dee" delivery available in the Midwest and they were the cheapest. Ordered arrived in about 4 days, maybe 3? He did forget to include 1 12" AL round bar. I emailed him, and he responded within a couple hours that the missing piece would go out the next day. I got the missing round bar today. He was very apologetic about the missing piece and I got it in 2 business days (4th of July delayed it getting here). So my first experience with them was good.
 
Interesting timing. I got this email from them on Tuesday. I'll attach the list he talks about.

I have set up notifications with USPS and UPS. Anything comming to my address and I get constant text and email updates in real time. When the package is delivered I get the notification literally within seconds. I have already gotten the delivery notification while home and there was no package. I imediatly called my local post office and they called the driver and the driver was able to back to the wrong adress and get the package back and deliver it properly. If you wait till the end of the day or the next day, the driver may no longer remember where the package was delivered to be able to try to retrieve it. I have a neighbor one bllock oover that has the same house number as me. Him and I often walk over to eachother to deliver misdelivered mail. Sometimes it is just a matter of diligence and acting quick.
 
In conclusion, Hobby Metal Kits is legit. They have been very gracious in dealing with the problem. I would highly recommend them, keeping in mind you might need a little more patience if issues come up.
