HF 9x20

Well crap on a stick, the rack is the right one except for all the holes are wrong!
So I'll be a while out, gata plug, Re drill and tap some new ones!
Getting ready for a turnaround at the refinery so I might be a while.

Sucks that it does not fit. I would see how close to the old mount holes you are, make sure your on the same line and watch for the spacing to the gear in the apron. Transfer punch and drill and tap should hopefully not take to much time. Hope your turn around goes well. I have done several turnarounds in my time and it was long hours, but good pay. One refinery and a couple gas plants. Mostly in winter in northern Alberta. Stay safe.

Thanks Dave,
It fits, the 1st hole is really close, Im going to use that to linr it all up. The rack is the same, the holes are off. I need a transfer punch set then I can rock and roll!

That can be an issue with the 9x20. Not so much the vendor you get the parts from as they are mostly the same. The real issue is the 9x20 has been in production since the late 80s and has seen some updates over that time. Even old Grizzly G4000s can run into issues using current Grizzly parts although they do identify many of the parts that have changed. Thankfully most of the changes are just a hassle vs just won't work.

This is very true.

Verify that if you turn the rack end for it the holes are still off before you drill/tap.

Gotcha, they are off enuff that I could drill and tap without plugging the old holes, but I think I will plug anyway, just for the fun of it!

I did mount the new rack with just one screw and ran the carriage back and forth to check and she runs!

I got the rack mounted, new holes tapped over size, from 8-32 to 10-32 and new roll pins, also sized up.
Got to make my first chips!
Next is some cutting tools, the ones that came with it are carbide insert, and I think HS is a better deal for my needs.
