Help finding a replacement gear

The extend what dalee said. My dad had an expensive Zerox paper shredder ,$400 price range, that sheared the teeth off a cast brass gear (most likely sintered) . I called company and they sold no parts. So I made a steel gear to replace it. Few week latter the next gear in the drive broke. And you guessed it I went down the whole line. :banghead: Then the motor went out and I replaced that one of course with a higher tork one. and final the frame bent so I put gussets in it. After all this I was over I was over there one day and watched him drop a magazine in it. "jawdrop: I realized my mistake I never asked him how it got broke. :lmao:

OH well funny story,

Jeff

Re: Help finding a replacement gear update

Well, they brought me the broken gear tonight. It has (had) 55 teeth, 2.345 dia, .377 thick with a .750 bore. It meshes nicely with the change gears from my Micromark 7x14 lathe. Thus, I would guess its metric Mod1.
The person needing the gear showed me the webpage for a replacement set of 2 gears for the lift chair as a cost of over $90! Robbery! There has to be somewhere to get a suitable replacement for much less than that.
I’ve checked Boston Gear and Stock Drive Products and they don’t list anything close. Any ideas?
This is for a lift chair for a 83 year young Senior Citizen.

Thanks, EdK, the QTC gears is the best price so far. It would still have to be bored to fit the shaft, but I wouldn't have to make the entire gear.

Thanks to everyone that has posted a link. I check them all, but haven't found any but the above that could even be modified to work. Any more?

I forwarded that link to the folks to consider. If they get it, I will bore it to shaft size for them.
