Heavy 10 Cam Lock with Collet Sleeve

The piece that inserts into the spindle is called a collet adapter. Mine measures 2-9/16" long, but my machine has a threaded spindle, not D1. They may not be the same.

There is something weird with yours, the drawbar/tube should be open. Can't imagine what that brass piece is for, it would block feeding stock through. Is the brass piece attached to the drawbar or is it just stuck in the spindle? I assume you can't put a collet in and thread it to the drawbar.

Oh, sorry, the brass piece was my knockout bar. I just pinched it out. That ridge was in the “collet adapter”. Do you have one in yours?

Mine is also 2-9/16”.

Strange it was so hard to get out. They usually come out with an easy tap for me.

No, no ridge inside the adapter, just the alignment key for the collet.
Perhaps someone thought it necessary to seat the adapter with a hammer.

Glad you got it out.

So am I. Do you ever use lube or anti-sieze?

No, never felt the need or had anyone suggest it.
In normal use it releases without much effort.
Was it in the spindle when you got the lathe?

When I got the lathe, the collet closer was in the spindle, but that sleeve/adapter was missing. Didn't have enough experience with cam lock spindles to notice.
