well guys, I think I have arrived at my solution. A buddy of mine has some SCHED 80 3/4" black pipe. I'll get 2 18" pieces from him and use that. It will be stronger than the SCHED 40, and yet won't be as heavy as the solid stock I have. Good compromise I believe. I'll "trick them out" a wee bit on the lathe with knurling at the ends, and might even turn down some little plugs for the ends that can be pinned in (or threaded in since this is sched 80 stuff. Thanks for all the input. Oh, I have also changed my mind on the Sunset Fucia.......I think I will go with plain old polished steel and a coat of gun cold blue. It'll dress it up fairly nicely. I'll try to remember to post picks when I am done.
