Gerstner machinist chest

I got a couple in an estate sale. One is much nicer than the other. My guess is they were produced in different time periods.
 
Nice job on the chest . I'm wondering if the leather is impossible to remove off a leatherette box or even if it is worth the effort .

Chances are the wood will not be what you would expect underneath the leather. There would have been no reason to use quality wood and then cover it up.
