I had one that was very similar to this one in my younger years. I saved it from the scrappers. Later in life sold it to a good friend of mine, he later sold it. Found out recently it got scrapped a couple of years ago! What a bummer!
Edit: This size is perfect for re-planning machine ways for a small to medium lathe or up to a Bridgeport size mill. The only restriction I see is the distance between the columns. This may restrict you to re-machining certain size machine components. But for 95% of your needs you would be covered! Can definitely rebuild a 14"-16" size lathe like a South Bend. I wouldn't let the 6 foot stroke stop you from planing a 8-10 foot lathe bed. I've done it! I've also seen it done on much larger and longer machine tool beds over 20 to 40 foot long! Ken
BTW, the planer I had only had a 2 HP 850 RPM motor on it! Worked fine, wouldn't take a heavy cut, though
