I am restoring an old Weiler German lathe, it has a switch actuating shaft that runs the length of the bed and the handle moves with the carriage. The shaft is damaged ad the bushing that connects the handle is worn. The shaft is an uncommon 11mm hex, what do other lathe manufacturers use for this shaft? Should I replace with square, US size Hex bar or keyed shaft? In any event I have to replace both the shaft and bushing.
