Here is a simple design I made years ago.
The main body is 1" square stock from the scrap bin.
The screws were made from 1/2" redi-rod.

Could you add bearings to the rod ends instead of the brass nubs?

The rods rotate for adjustment so if you added bearings you could add a linkage to the bearing shafts to keep them aligned.
I was considering using bearing for router bits.

Doesn't it make ya feel good to take some of the leftover junk we all have laying around and turn it into something useful. Not to mention the money we save to buy more stuff.

I was told one time that a machinist could take an otherwise useless piece of $5.00 scrap metal & turn it into a $500.00 dollar part.
