Evapo-rust

I've used the paper towel method on a surface grinder table. You have to make sure that you don't have any bubbles under the paper towel or you will get black rings on the surface. The black doesn't wipe off either, it's brillo pad time for them.

Can it be diluted for larger parts? What is the main inert ingredient? Does it work better hot? I've no experience with it at all.

Maybe it depends on what kind of paint, but it will melt paint. I dropped by 10L apron in a 5 gallon bucket for 2-3 days.. all rust gone & stripped it down to the metal including most the paint.

Tony, I can't say what the main ingredient is or what you could dilute it with, though it says it is "water based", but here's a link to it's MSDS - http://www.evaporust.com/docs/MSDS Evaporust.pdf and also it's data sheet - http://www.evaporust.com/docs/evaporust.pdf

It's been my experience that it won't touch paint but reading through the data sheet it does look like it could have an issue if the paint contained any kinds of oxides. I suppose another possibility could be that the paint was applied over rust.
