Evapo-rust

I can't remember in what threads I read it, or exactly what was said about it, but I remember a couple times people praising evapo-rust. I got some today, and I am just curious what to expect as far how much rust it can remove before it quits working. Can I run batch after batch of rusted-solid hand tools through it and have it still work for my machine parts later, or will I need to buy more?

i like it and use it a-lot
just did some larger drill bits from this past weekend garage sales. I usually give it a 24 hr soak with saran wrap cover. Wipe dry, & wire wheel a bit, oil up the parts good to go.

I pour the Evap Rust back into the jug, ready for the next go around

For 10.00 a qt not a big risk

Evapo-Rust is top shelf IMO. No bad smell and you can send it sown the drain when no longer of use. It is environmentally friendly. ------ "Billy G"

You can continue to reuse it until it finally turns black. As it approaches brown-black in color, its action will begin to slow down until it finally quits working.

I pour my used liquid into a clear plastic juice bottle where it's easy to see the sediment settle to the bottom while the liquid is still somewhat clear. My wife saves me small plastic tubs with lids and I use them for small parts.

The hint about Saran wrap is a good one. Also, you rinse the de-rusted parts in water which is somewhat ironic (no pun intended).

If you have an O'Reillys, they have it for 19.99 a gallon. Best price I have found. de-grease your part or tool, it helps. If the item is real rusty I let it sit overnight. It works better in warm weather as well. The first picture I tried some old naval jelly on part of the chuck. The second was a 24 hour bath in Evapo Rust.

I go through gallons of it. to make it last longer, get as much rust scale and oil off before you soak it.'Hotnsoapy water and a wire brush. cover the container

Why do you guys let the sediment setlle out?

We just got an O'Reillys that had the grand opening today, by the time I got there they only had one gallon, I got it but it was $22.99, told the clerk that I had read on a forum that they had it for 19.99 but not sure what city that was in. He gave it to me for the $19.99; I need to find me a tub to pour it in so I can try the stuff out, I'm excited, I bought a lot of end mills that are rusted, the look to be in great shape except for the rust, all sizes up to 2" ball end end mill, really sharp edges, but a lot of rust. Hope it'll work good on them, I bought out a shop that had caught on fire, got a lot of stuff, but the water that put out the fire caused a lot of rust, the insurance co paid for everything but didn't want to mess with gathering up the stuff, the fire didn't ruin everything, some of the stuff was rebuild-able, some wasn't some just had to have new cords, nobs, hoses, there were several crescent wrenches, all sizes that are solid rust but very good shape like the end mills, looking forward to seeing if it will all clean up, Also going to use it on some of my lathe parts. Question, if something has good paint on it but some rust can you de rust it without messing up the paint job?
