Hello all, new guy here, also new to some forms of machine work. I have a 761 and would like to put a dro on it. My question is does anybody make one for this kind with the Z axis on the spindle. I plan on calling DRO PRO tomorrow but figured I would ask the experts here as well. Thanks

I have mounted the Grizzly 3 axis DRO package on the G0755 which is very similar to your mill. I mounted the Z axis scale to the left of the depth indicator. It was a few years back, but I don't recall any lost capability. The DRO Pro glass scales are essentially the same as the Grizzly and less expensive. I may still have SolidWorks models for the install.

If you are looking at a less expensive install, look at the iGaging Absolute scales. The scales are physically smaller so an easier install. For just the Z axis, you don't give up much in versatility. They have a fairly nice readout. davidh on this forum sells them for a good price. If you are looking at using the Touch DRO system (I installed it on my G0602 lathe) the Absolute scales do not work with it but the the aluminum scal DRO that they sell does. IGaging also makes a self contained DRO designed for measuring quill travel. It comes as either a 6" scale wich will work for your mill. The iGaging scales can also be easily cut to a custom length for a neater installation.

Does David have a site or do you just have to track him down to get a price?

As far as I know, he doesn't have a site. You can track him from the registered member list or by searching for his posts and PM him.

I am looking for more like the Grizzly or dro pro, one that I can do recordable way points, doe you have any pics of installing in the quill? Or the solid works model?
