There is no argument tha annular cutters can't be beat for speed of cut and precision holes but if I were to to replace my collection of hole saws with annular cutters , I would be well on my way to purchasing a good piece of equipment.
Were I in a production setting, then yes. Time is money. But for those of in hobby mode, we have budgets, whether real or de facto. Additionally, I am funny in that when I have a need, I tend to push until a need is met. Being 20 miles from anywhere I usually resort to finding a solution to my need at hand instead of driving for an hour or two or waiting for three or more days for the solution to be shipped.
As to the chip loading, I found that using a pecking procedure with coolant or air for chip removal for chip evacuation works fairly efficiently.
