Drill/Tap 1340GT Spindle for Spider

I wish I would of found this site sooner, I would like to see Mark's 3 phase electronic upgrade for my lathe to I also have a 3 phase motor.
 
I agree on short spindles I would sooner make a collar to make it stronger than take away from the spindle.

Do a search in this subforum for 1340 GT updates. There are schematics and everything (or there was).
