The lead screw nut on the 0602 is a split nut with the main portion of the nut to back of the lathe. There is a cone point set screw which is used to bias the front portion of the nut to take up backlash. Any extension of the nut would have to be on the front portion. i have reverse engineered the lead screw and there is nothing particularly difficult about it. The threaded rod stock from McMaster Carr is probably better steel than the OEM screw. My concern was if Grizzly and their cohorts actually used a closer fit (e.g. 4H) or something custom.What about doing the opposite, make a new lead screw nut that is longer?
