Craftsman commercial horizontal bandsaw nylon bevel gear

Hello @Quick Cal ,

Do you know the exact make and model of the saw you are considering?
If so, check over at vintage machinery for a manual:
http://vintagemachinery.org/

Here is the Craftsman list:
http://vintagemachinery.org/mfgindex/detail.aspx?id=222&tab=3
use the pull-down filter for "Band Saws"

That should answer the tire question.

As for availability..... I do NOT know of anyone here supplying them.
Some public libraries have 3D printers.
Some areas have a local Maker Space that can help.
You could also check any local colleges or high-schools.
I am sure there are some online services for this too, but I have never used one.

If you're still stuck send me a PM (private message).

Brian

Thanks for the link.

The one I'm looking at is 101.22923. I don't find that exact model, but hopefully the ones shown are close enough.

As far as the gear goes they are still available from that online 3d print shop for $35 if I have to go that route.

I guess I'll start my own thread,,,lol.

Thanks for the help.

What 3D printing material did you use to print the new one? Thanks!

I had some made out of nylon SLS printing. PM if you are interested in one.

I have one running on my saw. It works fine.

Thanks for the info. I appreciate it. I have some on the way to me made from polycarbonate which I've read is a little more durable than nylon. If those don't work I'll contact you.

That's reasonable. Thank you. I'll see if these polycarbonate ones work and keep you in mind. Thanks again!

No problem just let me know. It is not going anywhere. I will be interested in the polycarbonate and how it holds up.

Do you have pictures of your saw? Are you doing a full rebuild. New bushings and tires?

I replaced all the bronze bushings and tires on mine. I did not repaint it though. I like my equipment to function properly and I like the used look. That way I don’t get hung up on keeping it pretty.

Here is the stand I made from some scrap 2x4’s
