Craftsman 6" 101.21400

One other wear related comment is on the lead screw. The lead screw is Acme thread. So there should be obvious flats on it. If it obviously looks like V-threads. then unfortunately the lead screw will have to be replaced.
 
I took it apart and cleaned everything. The half nuts looked good and the lead screw looked good.
It seems to work better now but will have to try with an actual cut. I only tried it without a workpiece.
