.....CORRECTiON: My comments in the following quoted paragraph are incorrect. Although none of the drawings or photos in the various manuals are good enough to show it, all of the post-war models of the AA lathes retained the inverted "V" style bed. Including the 109.21280.
One other thing that I will mention is that the 700 series all had Inverted-V beds whereas all of the later models have two round longitudinal rods, one front and one rear........

I'm not sure what you mean by "all of the later models have two round longitudinal rods". The 109.20630 and the 109.21270 have two inverted Vees as well except their peak to peak measurements are 2.50" vs the 702/703 peak to peak measurement of 2.125".
From what I have seen in photos the 109.21280 had one inverted Vee in front and a square step in the rear..
