Counter boring

Looking at the write-up analysis of the Emco FB2 from the archive site, the FB2 is a quality machine with a gib block that keeps the head vertical position in perfect alignment, unlike the Chinese copies. If the spindle is OK, then it is likely the gib needing a look at, as suggested by @Martin W .

Got some time to check it when the temp is under 100. The spindle looks good, I can push it and see the the indicator move a couple of thou, but it does move back immediately.

With the table X/Y locked, moving the knee does cause a shift. It seems to take a couple of inches of Z before it happens, but it's obvious on the indicator. Pushing the table with the locks on can bounce the indicator a little, but goes back immediately.

I tightened the Z gib a few turns. It made going up difficult, but down much easier. Makes me think that it might be shifting on the ways a little? I think it makes sense to mess with it more unless someone has a better idea. Hopefully I can get it to loosen on up a little bit but balance better. I can see oil on the surfaces, so I think lubrication is good.
