Could I get a bridgeport down here?

Get a petty boom (that is what we called it ) It is the forklift with the telescopic boom it shoots out about 30 feet . Or can you get a mini excavator in there and just stick the boom in basement? I moved a few furnaces out of basements thought bilco doors that way Just a thought. We already put a whole cube of blocks in a small door about 20 feet with the petty boom

We put a full size Bridgeport in a basement, through the kitchen and down the stairs. Fair a mount of work. Obviously it was disassembled. What does the rest of your yard look like? Where is the entrance? Why can't you just put it on a low trailer? Back it down and unload it. What does the back of the property look like?

When I started this thread I didn't have a mill. I do now, I just bought a Millrite that I will pick up in a week or so. I am confident I can get it in the basement one way or the other, I will post progress!

For anyone interested:

I picked up the Millrite this morning. I rented an open 5X9 trailer
from Uhaul, don't remember the exact weight rating but I think it was
around 1800#, it had a very sturdy gate, six internal strong tiepoints
and was $24.95 for 24 hours. I own a pallet jack and I loaded it with
a pallet reinforced with a top of mdf onto the trailer, took a bunch
of straps.

Unfortunately I didn't take my camera. The seller had taken the upper
portion of the mill off (in 3 pieces) plus he had removed the table.
All pieces were easily put in the bed of my pickup (the table being
the heaviest, probably over 150# this piece wasn't easy). The seller
had the base on a pallet jack and we were able to slide it (not easily)
onto my pallet. We were able to roll the base into the trailer without a
come-a-long but it was very much a factor of the elevation of the tongue
and trailer, had everything been on a level surface we would probably
have had to use my chain hoist to pull the load into the trailer.

Got it home with no problems, got all extra pieces into the basement with
a 2 wheel dolly by myself. I called a neighbor, he is large but not huge,
maybe 235#. I slowly went down the walk with the pallet jack and base
while my neighbor walked in front all the time pushing on the top of it
toward the house. It took about 30 seconds, went fine.

It is VERY fortunate that the neighbor WALKING IN FRONT did not get hurt!! I do not recommend that at all. Glad all went well.

The mill base was securely strapped to a pallet that never was out of contact with the ground. The center of gravity was such that the worst thing that could have happened is that the pallet jack went into the soft lawn. We were never in any danger.

Safe movers. I had an 1100lb safe delivered with no problem. Get a quote first.
