Has anybody added a coolant system to one of the little band saws? I've been looking at mine for a place to attach the hose and nozzle, but there isn't a lot of extra room. Pictures would be nice of the location you put yours.

I ditched the coolant system on my 9x12 bandsaw and use a wax lube stick. I think that is either a Walter or Lennox stick in my pic.

I sold the tank and pump for $150.

If you want to get fancy you can use a stream of compressed air to cool the blade and clear chips. This is what I did for my Ellis saw.

I've never used the coolant system on my 7x12. I just use Boelube wax paste & sometimes apply coolant with a squeeze bottle with a needle tip. I don't want the mess of flood at home. Did the same when I had a 4x6. When I finally run out of the Boelube wax (I have one more left) I'll probably try the Lenox wax stick next. The Boelube works good but the Lenox is so much cheaper.

I use the Boelube products also, good stuff!

Yeah, I like Boelube products. I use Boelube 90 also (not on the bandsaw). It's so expensive now though now that enco is gone. I hope I never run out! :big grin:

I take that back. The Boelube wax isn't that expensive. I've been using their little 1.6oz tubes cause they're a convenient size. Buying that size is expensive. I'll buy the big tube of Boelube next time.

I use Nikx Stikx, a wax stick sold by Little Machine Shop. It's $4.95 and works very well on my 4x6. Liquid coolant/lubricant would be too messy for me.

Cutting Compound, Nikx Stikx

Yea, Boelube might cost more than other options but with Boelube, “ just a dab will do ya”.

Does the swarf stick to the blade or fall off like dry cutting?
