It kind of depends on what you want to do. I would think that mounting a high speed spindle for routing signs would work, and make sense if you wanted to engrave woden signs. Don't know about the laser, stuff, but I had the same idea, if parts were wood and small, but I hadn't thought about evacuation of fumes etc.
