I am trying to cut ipe Brazilian hardwood.LPE -linear polyethylene
IPE - Brazilian hardwood that is so dense it sinks in water
Which are you trying to cut?
I am trying to cut ipe Brazilian hardwood.
Thank You. !!!Ipe is one of my favorite woods and I work with it quite a bit. A carbide tip circular saw blade always does a very good job for me. I like the Freud ultimate cut off blades and I get a lot of life out of them. Ipe is very dense/hard but it doesn't have the abrasiveness which kills saw blades that some of the other hardwoods do.
Because it is so dense Ipe puts out a VERY fine dust which is a respiratory irritant. I would strongly encourage you to wear a quality dust protection mask when cutting and sanding Ipe.
Oh yeah, Ipe splinters are killer... be careful!
I ended up using a bimetal blade on my FeinThank You. !!!
I plan on wearing my 3M partial face mask with p-100 2097 and good goggles.
I am going to use my Dewault circular saw with a shallow cut to see how it does.
Splinters are nasty, Summer only I gotta put work gloves on.
Probably have to turn it to get all the way thru.
Even the 8’ by 4 by 4 was very heavy to move in an enclosed space.
Thanks for the tips.
Hope all works out !
