Can you hear this?

What are you using to make the videos and what mic? I initially used an HD consumer video camera and the on-board mic with limited success. The iPhone mic was better, but best was an inexpensive wireless mic and my Nikon D50: less background noise and better narration.
 
The audio on this video is OK.
If this audio and that from the other video (lathe apron) seem essentially equal in volume and clarity to you, I don't know what to say.

On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being unintelligible and 10 being professional quality, I rate the lathe apron video at about a 1 and this video at about a 6.

Agree with this assessment. Now a 6 is fine for this kind of video, but better audio quality simply makes it easier to listen to.
