Interesting. I've never seen a "cadillac" lathe. Is that actually made by General motors or is it a rebrand? Or perhaps just a name coincedence, but that script sure looks like GM/Cadillac script.....

As mentioned at the start of the thread, the "Cadillac" lathe is a Taiwan clone of a Mori Seiki lathe. I'm sure the script font is not an accident, but it has nothing to do with GM.
HGR actually had six 14" Cadillacs. One came in a while ago and is pretty crusty. The other five came in together. Three of those have the standard A1-5 spindle, and two have D1-5 (more desirable in a non-production environment). Of the two D-spindle lathes, one has a gap and one doesn't. The non-gap one has an 8" three-jaw and a tailstock drill chuck while mine has a 10" four-jaw and a FIMS tool post. Someone bought the non-gap one a couple weeks ago. So now the only thing left is the four A1-5 spindle ones (two 1428 models and two 1422 models).
They also have a model 1760 Cadillac if anyone is looking for a real beast. 2" spindle bore, 4500 lbs.
I have been going back and forth on going to get one. Did you happen to look the other over? It’s a pretty long trip for me that’s what stops me from just going to look.

By "other" do you mean the Clausing Colchester VS12? Or the other Cadillacs?
I checked out the Clausing on Monday before I bought the Cadillac but at that point I was already pretty much settled on the Cadillac. It does seem to be in quite good shape; certainly nothing jumped out at me saying "stay away!". Has a complete collet closer and a real Aloris toolpost plus a tailstock chuck. No detectable wear ridges on the ways. Can't check the vari-speed belt drive without powering it up, but this model has a mechanical adjustment rather than the hydraulic version that gives some Clausing owners trouble. Gearbox and apron controls all seemed to function correctly when turning the spindle by hand. It's on sale for $1750 today (not sure if that's just a one-day sale or if it means they've lowered the price). A guy at Clausing emailed me the manual for that machine, if you are interested PM me with your email address and I'll forward it.
Regarding the remaining Cadillacs: I was going to go into some detail, but when I checked the website just now, all but one of the 14" ones have been sold. The remaining one is the one that has been there the longest. Compared to the others, It has been rode hard and put away wet. I decided pretty quickly that I didn't want that one so I can't offer many details about it.
