Beginner Drill Chuck Question

In agreement here; the descriptions are valid. My chucks vary in size, and keyed [ball bearing] or hand tight. Larger chucks get R8, Morse, 40 or 50 taper holders. Smaller guys are straight shank. My go-to R8 diameter is 5/8", speeding up chuck to tapping head [Hardinge TT] changes.
I never chuck up taps, unless to make some kind of close alignment, because tapping heads float.
So......chucks that hold drill sizes equal to tap capacity of the head, are shortened to ~ 1-1/2" of the TT. On occasions running 2 axis Trak mill with air drawbar, can nearly out run a carousel CNC.

I use my Albrecht almost exclusively on the mill. It has a shortened 3/4 ø shank.

I have a Jacobs for the mill, but rarely use it.
