OK. That is surprising. That might be why Atlas brought out the 918 Utility Lathe around that time. Did that particular SB have back gears?
 
Yes, it was their standard 9" Workshop lathe that they offered for many years. Back geared, with a set of change gears, but no quick change gearbox or powered cross feed.
