Not sure if this is the right place to start but what the heck. My dad bought this Atlas 1020 drill press new in 1951 and it just recently gave out on me. This is a key piece of equipment here in my shop. I have called Clausing and spoke with Brian Axe to see if we could still get parts but no luck. We did find a drawing of the part I need and am looking for help to find one or have one made. It is the splined piece made from Delron that the Quill drive slides thru. It has 2 dog ears that lock it into the bearing carrier sleeve and is driven from the top belt pully. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Hello,
Is there anyway that the existing piece can be coupled with some heavy copper wire . (Not too clear whi the problem is .)

(But the forum has got me in cerebral overload, What a fantastic Idea... such as this form of communication.
We are all connected,,We can do anything .
Helping one another

In Class the Instructor used heavy copper wire to act as a safety in case of mishaps.
(Called a sheerpin)
I think it might work.
Rube Goldberg would be proud. An it doesn't cost anything ..

Anyways will look around ,Rhode Island is rich in machinery parts ,places ,etc

The splined Delron piece press fits into the metal bearing drive unit. The 2 small pieces of Delron are ears that were attached to the main body. They sheared off and the drill press shaft no longer spins.

Right ,I percieve that if you could drill some small holes an use some brass stock ,or something..you might be able to repair the existing part. You should be able to Imbed material into the delron.maybe with small pins.etc
Take care .

The issue with that is the quill drive moves up and down in the splines and would not function correctly if i tried to add a small piece of material as a drive wedge.

Ok,I was imagining a shim that would be pinned from the side of the delron. To hold it all together .etc . That is a tough repair ......
