Atlas 10 toggle switch ideas to replace

Take your old switch to a NAPA Auto Parts store. Tell them the horsepower rating of the motor and the voltage. The brand of switch you want is Echlin, which is their best quality. They may have to order in the model with terminals to match your old switch. Your switch is a Single Pole, Single Throw (SPST), which is the most basic type. It uses the "Neck Mount" design.

Unplug the lathe and work the switch on and off several times. Sometimes that will "fix" it. But don't cancel your wanted post.

Toggle switches are ubiquitous. You will just need to match or exceed the voltage and current ratings on the original switch, The actual form of the switch isn't critical as long as the diameter of the toggle barrel is the same. the length of the barrel may differ but there are usually two nuts included and you can adjust the back nut for the right stick out.

Automotive switches are typically rated for d.c. switching so you need to make sure that the replacement is rated for a.c. or for both. I will often use a double pole switch to replace a single pole switch as there are two sets of contacts which increases reliability. If the lathe motor is running on 240 volts, you would be wise to switch both sides of the line with a double pole switch.
