Anybody know what it costs to return something to Hong Kong?

I was thinking about that. I can't tilt the vise or table, but I do believe I have a sine bar around here somewhere. Maybe this would be my opportunity to learn how to use it. Although the the dovetail will be about 12 inches long when it's done. It seems likely to me that my personal skill would be the limiting factor.

He was just joking with you... a dovetail cutter cuts on the side and bottom, so you'd end up with a 45 degree dovetail even if you tilt the work piece. ;)

Really? I was imagining making a full pass at 90 degrees, and then resetting the workpiece in order to cut the remaining 15 degrees with the top edges of the dovetail teeth. Oops!

Well, yes, you could try that. You might be able to get away with it depending on what you're going to use the dovetail for and how accurately you can re-set the work piece at the new angle and get it aligned dead on at the same time. Maybe he wasn't joking... o_O

I don’t think I’m up to it. It’s good to know though that if the stars did align for me, it’s not completely out of the realm of possibility. It’s a dovetail for a t slot cross slide from MLA.

Recently shipped some small aluminum pieces to Hong Kong. Took roughly 5 days and $60 through fedex, which was the cheapest option.

That's all...That's my question. I bought what was supposed to be a 60 degree dovetail cutter from Hong Kong on Ebay, and it arrived yesterday as a 45 degree dovetail cutter. I should have known better I suppose. Anyhow, I expect it'll cost more to return it than it cost me to buy the darn thing. Darn the luck!
Sending it back will only set you up for them claiming they never received it. They are the ones who messed up and sent the wrong tool, so if they want it back they can have it picked up at your address. Their mistake does not need to become your headache. If you payed with a credit card, PayPal, or some other such agent, then demand that they stop payment and refund all your costs.
