Thanks for all the input everyone (and the chuckles). It was hooked to a small AC to DV converter so what ever it was it supplied DC Voltage.

On a side note, the mill did not work at all. I had to hold the green button down to get the spindle to turn. The relay never latched and the only relay was in a potted circuit board so not serviceable. I just made a new switch and ditched the momentary one and it is working fine now however either my RPM gage/read out is faulty or I am only getting about half the advertised speed so that will be the next journey. I did get the DRO installed and it works great.
