Looks like it came off of this saw ! He's missing one handle .

Edit . This is the wrong fleapay post . There was a handle on one that was identical to the one you pictured .

It's about the right shape but IIRC they're smaller. As a kid I recall seeing theater-curtain weights that looked a bit like that.

So, the main part is wood, not cast iron. Now the saw handle makes sense.

It looks like a handle from a 1900’s era two man cross cut saw. My wife has several of those style saws in her collection of old time logging equipment.

Winner winner chicken dinner ! What old time tools does the wife collect ? My house is full of them . We hang **** on the fireplace and mantle , porch , in the garden etc . I found a huge pair of antique logging tongs up on the property and foolishly gave them away to the neighbor .

At one time we had the walls of the rec room at our cottage covered with them. Most are now in storage where the relatives' grand children can't get at them. They're all at the curious stage where they could do some serious damage to themselves or others playing with them.

If I recall correctly there are several Peeves, cant hooks, one and two man crosscut saws, tie bars and spikes for making log booms. circular saw blades up to 36" in diameter, log tongs, framing adzes, horse snowshoes, several different style felling axes, buck saws, pickaroons, log marking hammers, logging rules (to determine how many board feet can be harvested from a log), and dozens of other tools that don't come to mind right now.

We also have some tools that were from the lumber camps like a 4' square butcher block, Logging Camp identification signs and a log sled. We ran across an old Lombard log tractor that I would have loved to restore. Unfortunately, we didn't have the room or the time to do it in those days. Now that I have the time I don't have the energy. I've many projects I'm currently working on, and several more waiting in the wings. I'll have to live to 150 years old just to finish up what I have now.
