That, my friend, is an amazing piece of work! Could you explain your process? Looks like you made an octagon mandrel to hold it but how did you arrive at the octagon 'tube'

I started with flat plate and bandsawed it first.

I turned each end in order that it would fit in my indexer in the mill.

Roughing it out

The one I scrapped was cut with the bottom of the endmill-too rough
Next was cut with the side of the flutes

This was a scrap one
Sorry about the jumping around

Very nice! Ok, did you EDM the octagon 'core' out?

Yes as I saw no way to end up with the .025 wall thickness. A shop that I worked in the late 60s had a nice small wire EDM.

Wow, those things (EDM) are amazing.
That really is a sharp job!

Beautiful rifle! thanks for sharing it!

Lord, man- that work rivals some from the best! I frequent another forum where many Custom Makers hang out. This is better than many I see there!

The quality shows in the end product. That gun is a top shelf piece. I own some very nice and exspensive ones myself. And this is extremely well made. Thanks for sharing the art work.
