I decided to update my white paper on parting best practices. It's attached for your review. Enjoy.
Any GTN-3 insert will cut aluminum. There are versions that are graded specifically for use with aluminum such as the Iscar GTN-3P-A2 IC20. However, for general use in a non-production environment, it's not worth spending the extra bucks to get a GTN-3 insert that's specifically graded for aluminum. Aloris sells GTN-3 inserts as do most other industrial supply distributors. Below are some links that might be useful in finding GTN-3 inserts. I have no experience with off-brand inserts like the ones sold on Amazon or eBay and normally dissuade users from buying those items. I do have experience with and can recommend the first two listed below.
