Just picked up a used air compressor and while net surfing for info I found this, thought some of you might benefit from it. Take note that the compressed air enters the tank after it goes through the system. He uses a secondary holding tank but I'm sure that's really not necessary, just so you have some type of filter water separator before it enters the main tank; also other vids of similar systems on tube.

That is cool. May have to look at something like that, You can feel the moisture coming out of it after running a while here, It also does not seem like driers last long here. To much humidity In the air. If that works it would save some wear and tear on the air tools.

If it where only that easey. Now the small tank alone would get alot of water out. But not all of it. You need a chiller fot that.

Not sure I understand what you're referring to, you don't think the systems shown are that easy to efficiently work?

thanks, Brian

Anything you can do to cool the air and drop the water out is helpful. A refrigerated air drier is the best solution, but also expensive. The goal is to lower the dew point of the air so any cooling is a good thing. The air conditioning condenser idea is an inexpensive solution as long as it has a good water separating filter down stream.

Desiccant type driers are just about useless if you don't have a method of removing most of the water prior to filtering with the desiccant drier.

I have wondered why you could not take a small, apartment or trailer size refrigerator that could be bought cheap, and put a coil inside of it for condensing water from the compressor?

While I was searching for compressor info I read where a guy did exactly that. With my limited home shop space even a small refrigerator would take up to much of my real estate, I'm having to reorganize to make a space for my new to me 60gal compressor.

Right with out a chiller you are not going to remove much of the moisture. If you where to test the air comming out of that guys system and one without the condenser You would only see a small differince.

I would not pay out the big bucks for a REAL chiller!!:)
