Advise on draw bar for 5C collets?

Thanks Gary and BrassMagnet. Gary, I saw your post in my thread about going with either a collet drawbar setup or 5c chuck. Brass, if you remember to get that info I'd appreciate it. If mine comes out simply working I'll be happy, let alone looking as nice as what you guys made. :)

See now...what others may see and call "simple" I see as a work of art. That's a beauty right there, Brass! Thanks for the dimensions. I know it'll be a while before I attempt internal threads on my lathe but I'm looking forward to making this. Thanks again!

PS, I can't make out if you have a bearing on there.....what kind of bearing did you use?

This is very similar to what I used in my collar setup. Oh, and for the record, I didn't know diddly about any kind of threading at that point in my experience - I actually purchased a section of threaded tubing off Ebay for the project. Amazing what a little time and practice can get you though - I would have no problem doing the internal threading now. :))

Oh...so these parts are in front of the handwheel then.....? I get it. Nice work, brother. I just found a 5c drawtube with handwheel so I may go with that but it's about 3" longer than what I need but I can modify it down at the wheel end. We'll see.. but thank you for all your help, Brass. :man:

You are very welcome, but I assure you, I am not the man. I'm only 14 months into acquiring a lathe, and I have way more to learn than I'll have time left on the planet for! (chuckle)

Hey, you're da'man for being kind enough to get the dimensions and post them, as well as your pics. For that I thank you, and I'm sure others will glean info from this thread in the future, too. :drink:
