Adding a drum switch to a reversible motor.

My plan was to do a generic "how to do it" paper that would cover most cases, easier said than done
without getting too theoretical

You should be OK- let me know how it works. Some motors like Dayton don't shut off the start circuit properly and the motor overheats.
I checked the internal diagram of your Baldor and that won't happen here.
Yes sir! That did it. Thank you!!
This won't risk my motor? This thing is great and don't want to jeopardize it.

Maybe there should be a devoted place to put all of the wiring schematics for drum switches. I know Mark dialed me in. Basic info drum switch model and motor model along with a few pictures and schematic.

Or is there already one.

Cutting oil is my blood.

I made drawing 20 years age for just all the different types switch.
It should be on this group too.
If not here goto

Copy and move a copy to this site too.

The only problem is the thermal protection is different.

I new about problem and got switch with separate on off and reversing section. Made life easier too.

You should be good to go- be sure to ground the motor and the switch case both to prevent shock hazard
