It is also possible to use a fixed radius tool to create different results. The angle of the scraper to the work changes the shape of the chip. Very flat held scraper acts like a larger radius. The blade can be sharpened to a different angle than 5 degrees to accommodate the change in attack angle. It can also go the other way, to a steep angle, which would give deeper grooves for the same radius blade.
