A "Better" Center Drill For Small Lathe ?

I think you misread my post Randy. I used a, (I think), 3/4" bit that had a MT2 shank. Cut the flutes off just at the MT and drilled the shank to take the centre drill

You're correct, I misread and was thinking of my own implementation, sorry !
