Hello everyone I have a feu questions I have a 1957 SB 9" B, with a 3 foot bed I purchased a quick change gear box in very good condition can I machine my model B lead screw to work on my quick change gear box. And what size, number of teeth, is the gear on the model A lead screw, are the gears heat treated. Are there any prints or drawings of these parts available.
Thank you for your time.

Sounds like an interesting project. I actually thought of doing this many years ago, but eventually just bought a lathe with a QCGB. I have a 9A from 1936 and a heavy 10 from 1943 so I don't know if the gears would be the same as your lathe...
Please post some pictures if you can, that usually helps get answers.

pointtopoint, I believe your SB9b already has a leadscrew with the full keyway so the QC gearbox shouldn’t be a problem.
I don’t know about the gears you’ll need.
Eddyet, do you mean ‘46 or ‘56, I don’t believe SB made a A,B,or C in 9” workshop type ‘til late 38 or 39.
The 9” Junior had a gearbox option in 36, but a different SB lathe.
I have a ‘36 & an early ‘38 SB9 workshop type, neither had an A B or C option yet.
EDIT: and I sure would like a QCGB, but it is what it is, I have full set of change gears & a thread dial so can cut gears & change feed speeds, but it is much slower.
so it goes….
